David Bowie confirms Record Store Day releases

davidbowiesqNewly packaged copies of ‘Rock n Roll Suicide’ and ‘1984‘ will be released next month as the legendary David Bowie does his bit for Record Store Day.

A limited edition picture disc on 7″ of ‘Rock n Roll Suicide’ is out in the UK on April 19th, while those in North American will be able to get their hands on a similar copy of ‘1984’, which first featured on his 1974 album ‘Diamond Dogs‘.

Though originally closing out the classic ’72 LP ‘The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars‘, it is the 40th anniversary of its surprise release as a single by RCA two years later which is being marked here. For Record Store Day, the flip-side will comprise ‘Farewell Speech‘ – a recording of the famously abrupt death-knell for Ziggy Stardust announced by Bowie to his audience at the Hammersmith Odeon in July 1973.
