Surviving Beatles Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will perform together at the Grammy Awards later this month, reports Rolling Stone.

McCartney is due to attend the ceremony after being nominated in the Best Rock Song category thanks to his ‘Cut Me Some Slack‘ collaboration with Dave Grohl and Krist Noveselic for the Sun Studios documentary soundtrack, while Ringo is due at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26th to collect the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The very rare onstage reunion will arrive shortly before the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ world changing first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, which took place on February 9th, 1964.

The Grammy Awards has already commissioned a special two-hour documentary entitled The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles to mark the occasion.

“The Beatles are one of music’s most iconic groups, who won their first two Grammys, including one for Best New Artist, in 1964 — the same year they took America by storm,” Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy, has said.

“As the Grammy Awards are ‘Music’s Biggest Night,’ it’s only fitting that we recognize this milestone moment in music history and pay tribute to this larger-than-life group and their enduring music and legacy.”
