Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler not expecting another Black Sabbath album

blacksabbathBoth Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi have suggested Black Sabbath‘s 2013 comeback LP ‘13‘ is likely to prove to be their last.

“To me, it’s been nicely rounded off now,” Butler has told Classic Rock. “If we did another album, it just wouldn’t have the same vibe as far as I’m concerned. And with this one doing so well, the next one would have to be Number One everywhere too or people would see it as a failure.”

’13’ was eventually released in the June of this year after Tony Iommi’s cancer diagnosis, revealed almost immediately after the band confirmed a reunion at the start of 2012, delayed their plans for that year. The album topped the charts in the US, UK and beyond, and was generally received well by critics.

“Making ’13’ was such a great, memorable experience so if that’s the final chapter we’d have to be happy,” Iommi continued. “We’ve not spoken about another album. I don’t know if it would be the right thing to do. God knows what the expectations would be next time around. I’d probably have a heart attack worrying about it!”
