Video: Revisit Spike Jonze’s live-directed promo for Arcade Fire’s ‘Afterlife’

Spike Jonze‘s video for Arcade Fire‘s ‘Afterlife‘, which was directed live at the first ever YouTube Music Awards last weekend, can be viewed below.

Jonze directed actress Greta Gerwig through an apartment break-up, a winter forest and eventually an all-dancing finale at the ceremony when it was held in New York on November 3rd.

During the evening’s entertainment Arcade Fire’s Win Butler showed off the cutting sense of humour for which he is famous when Kanye West‘s hijacking of Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was pastiched.

Arcade Fire have just secured their second successive UK number one album with ‘Reflektor‘, and will be in Britain for a clutch of low-key live shows this month. Those include stops in Blackpool, Glasgow and London which have all been billed under the alias The Reflektors. The band have also confirmed for the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in May 2014.
