U2 have premiered an official lyric video for ‘Ordinary Love‘ – their first slice of new material in three years. Head over to the band’s Facebook page for a listen.

The track has been offered to the soundtrack for Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, and is also set for release as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday celebrations on November 29th, when 10,000 10″ vinyls  will be made available. The single is backed with a re-worked version of the ‘No Line On The Horizon‘ album track ‘Breathe‘.

‘Ordinary Love’ acts as a precursor to U2’s latest full length album, which if recent reports prove to be correct will be confirmed in February 2014 and released a couple of months later.

“I think it’s a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years,” bass player Adam Clayton has said. “We’re in the studio. We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas.”
