Morrissey has an ‘arsenal’ of new material ready to be released

Baz Boorer, who has been by Morrissey‘s side for the vast majority of the former Smiths singer’s solo career, has confirmed there is an ‘arsenal’ of new material waiting to find a home on a new record label.

After the 2009 album ‘Years Of Refusal‘ and its subsequent touring completed the terms of a deal with Universal, Morrissey has been without a record company and used a post on fansite True To You at the end of 2011 to state that he didn’t expect to live long enough to ‘experience an offer to record for a grown-up label’. “The world, I expect, will somehow endure, even as the follow-up to ‘Years of Refusal’ grows less and less likely,” he added. “End of subject. I promise.”

And now, speaking to God Is In The TV, Boorer has confirmed new songs are ready to go, but there still doesn’t appear to be any new deal on the horizon. “Not with regard to shows but Morrissey is unable to secure a record deal so we haven’t made a record in a few years, despite having an arsenal of new material,” he said.

The lack of activity had helped to fuel rumours that Morrissey could retire altogether by next year – rumours he insisted was nothing more than ‘wishful thinking‘ on the part of journalists.
