Yoko Ono and The Flaming LipsWayne Coyne appeared on the Late Show…With David Letterman last night (October 2nd) for an airing of the anti-war protest ‘Cheshire Cat Cry‘.

With Coyne sat cross-legged wrestling with a megaphone, and Ono howling ‘stop the violence, stop the war’ throughout most of the performance, the reaction was probably best summed up by the esteemed host who, with tongue firmly placed in cheek, told the crowd afterwards: “It’s fun when you leave the theater humming the music from the show.”

Yoko Ono is just one of many acts to have enjoyed regular collaborations with The Flaming Lips – past examples of which include live New Year gigs and contributions to the recent ‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends‘ album.

Tame Impala have added their own name to that long-list after working with Coyne on a joint covers EP which will be sold during the bands’ autumn US tour.
