Hop Farm festival ‘to return next year with new promoters’

hopfarmThe Hop Farm festival will return next year despite the many setbacks it has suffered since 2012, reports Kent Online.

According to the paper, a new promoter – said to be Flashback’s Neil Butkeratis – will man the helm for 2014, when an event planned for around 20,000 music fans is being eyed up over the weekend of July 4th-6th.

“The event is going ahead, which is great news,” Hop Farm’s head of marketing Miguel Fenton remarks. “There will be a fresh approach under a new promoter.”

“It will be more of a boutique festival with a new promoter and line-up,” a spokesperson for UK Events adds.

The 2012 edition of Hop Farm, headlined by Bob Dylan, Suede and Peter Gabriel, was the catalyst for a financial implosion which swiftly culminated in Vince Power’s parent company entering administration before the end of that year.

Despite Power’s determination to bring the festival back in a reduced form for 2013, intended headliners My Bloody Valentine were among the artists left disappointed when poor ticket sales were flagged up as the reason for its shock cancellation in May.
