The best selling artist in Amazon UK’s 15-year history has been revealed to be Adele.
With all formats taken into account, Adele has proved to be the most popular in the online retailer’s history, with Coldplay and The Beatles in second and third place respectively.
Adele also figures high up on the best selling mp3s list, but is beaten to first place by Rage Against The Machine‘s ‘Killing In The Name‘ – the subject of a campaign which handed the track the UK’s Christmas Number One in 2009, ahead of that year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry.
“Adele’s achievement in securing both the best-selling artist title and the top two best-selling albums of the past 15 years on Amazon.co.uk is remarkable,” head of music at Amazon.co.uk, Paul Firth states.
“The fact that Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’ has pushed Adele into second place in the best-selling singles chart is indicative of how much the UK loves a good campaign and how the public love the underdog.”
