The Strypes are streaming their new single ‘What a Shame‘ on YouTube after the track recently became the latest in Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ series on BBC Radio 1. Scroll down to have a listen.

‘What a Shame’ is available now on iTunes, and will be followed by the young Irish band’s debut album in September. Along side their original compositions, the LP is to feature a selection of early rock n roll classics which have formed a regular part of their live set.

“The main thing was there had to be no difference between our songs and the standards we play, it has to be seamless,” bass player Pete O’Hanlon has previously told NME.

The album was recorded over a 15-day period with respected producer Chris Thomas. The studio visit was in the end significantly longer than the 12-hour window that they had first hoped for, as drummer Evan Walsh revealed to NME the band had been aiming to emulate The Beatles‘ marathon session for their own debut ‘Please Please Me‘.
