Scott Weiland discusses Stone Temple Pilots court cases

stonetemplepilotsScott Weiland has been discussing the ongoing battles with Stone Temple Pilots which began after he was sacked from the band at the start of this year.

In the wake of his departure, the remaining members of Stone Temple Pilots began legal proceedings in an attempt to prevent Weiland from using their name or songs in the future. The frontman quickly responded, initiating his own court action which claimed the group had no legal right to remove him from the band’s line-up in the first place.

“The brothers DeLeo can be pretty persuasive,” Weiland has now said in an interview with Billboard. “I guess nothing is totally shocking, but I don’t think it was smart for them to do that. I’m surprised they did what they did without checking the legality of it, how they just decided to go and use the name and go and hire another singer and start playing shows with a name that I still am an owner of.”

Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington has since linked up with Stone Temple Pilots following Weiland’s sacking.
