Foals tipped to headline Reading / Leeds festival

foalswideDespite well established and recently reformed rock bands once again pretty much monopolising the business end of festival line-ups this summer, Reading/Leeds promoter Melvin Benn has appeared to earmark Foals as one relatively new group who could make the step up to headline status very soon.

“That’s been on my mind for a while and it goes back to two or three years ago when they performed at Latitude,” Benn replied when asked by NME about the possibility of Foals topping the twin events’ bill in the future.

“Foals for me are the most in touch guitar band in the world and I don’t think anybody’s matching them. To see them own the stage and the reaction they got was unbelievable. Listening to this new album, I had no doubts in my mind that I wanted them to come and headline. The moshing I’ve seen at Latitude was as intense as anything I’ve seen anywhere.”

This year’s Reading/Leeds festival begins at the end of this month and is headlined by Green Day, Eminem and Biffy Clyro.
