Alan McGee‘s newly launched record label 359 Music has confirmed its first releases will arrive from October 14th.
On that date, 15-year-old Doncaster-based singer-songwriter John Lennon McGullagh will release his debut album which was recorded in Sheffield at a studio once frequented by Pulp. It has been produced by McGee, who remarks:
“We got lucky with our first batch of signings. All three acts have balls and gravitas and, as I said when we started the label, we are a launch pad for new and ignored talent. It’s also been a blast so far working with the acts and Cherry Red… onwards!”
A week later, former Grants frontman Chris Grant will have his maiden effort ‘It’s Not About War‘ made available. McGee first discovered Grant through MySpace back in 2007. “Like me, Chris is a round peg in a square hole,” he explains. “I would have signed Chris but I didn’t have a label.”
The third and final LP included in this initial round of releases is due on October 28th, and comes courtesy of the four-piece Mineral and their debut ‘Plastic Ekphrastic‘.
