Bestival has had its application to increase capacity to the best part of 80,000 people has been approved, but the volume of tickets sold will remain at 55,000.
According to a spokesperson, the increase has been made in order to deal with an ever growing army of bands and onsite crew members as the Isle Of Wight-based festival gears up for its latest leg in September.
“Our new festival license for 79,999 people is in place to cope with the demands of our huge creative and site-build teams, as well as the vast number of artists and crews that perform at the festival,” the spokesperson told Isle of Wight County Press.
“We are still only selling 55,000 tickets for festival-goers. No other shows of this size have so many stages and artists, so the capacity increase allows us to keep growing the entertainment at the festival year on year while keeping the festival’s boutique ethos.”
Taking place between September 5th-8th, Bestival headliners for 2013 will be Fatboy Slim, Snoop Dog and Elton John.
