Jarvis Cocker: No live shows for Pulp this year

Jarvis Cocker has ruled out any live outings for Pulp this year.

Having reunited in 2011 for a tour which eventually continued into the following year, Cocker told those in attendance at Pulp’s homecoming gig in Sheffield last Christmas that, ‘this is it for now’.

And speaking to NME about those comments at the premiere of the Martin Wallace documentary The Big Melt, the singer explained: “For a while, you know. That was a good concert that, it was nice. But those things, you can’t keep doing them. But Pulp won’t be playing this year.”

Jarvis Cocker has written the score for The Big Melt, which tells the story of Sheffield’s steel industry and received its premiere this month at the city’s Crucible theatre as part of the Doc/Fest.

He performed live at the event, and was joined by Pulp bandmates Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey and Nick Banks, as well as one-time Pulp member Richard Hawley.
