Glastonbury Festival to provide 4G Wi-Fi from a tractor

glastonburyThose descending on Worthy Farm this week for the 2013 Glastonbury Festival will be treated to a roaming hot-spot providing 4G Wi-Fi access – which in typical Glasto style is going to be beamed direct from a tractor.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this year’s Glastonbury, where we will be installing the first ever superfast 4G network at a UK festival to help those on site stay connected.” EE’s brand director Spencer McHugh remarks.

“Our 4G tractor demonstrates the innovative approach we’re taking to bring the fastest mobile internet speeds to the UK in a uniquely Glastonbury way, and uses similar technology to our fleet of 4G cabs trialled earlier this year.”

Festival-goers will be able to track the location of the tractor on Twitter from this Wednesday (June 26th) when the event opens its doors for the first time since 2011. The main Pyramid Stage’s first headliners – the Arctic Monkeys – are due up shortly after on Friday, June 28th.
