Video: Yeah Yeah Yeahs premiere ‘Mosquito’

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have premiered the video for the title-track of their ‘Mosquito‘ album, which received its release last month.

The video, directed by B. Shimbe Shim, focuses on a mosquito as it settles down for lunch on an unwitting child’s hand while the song plays out in the meantime.

The New York trio reunited with Dave Sitek at the Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas for the recording of ‘Mosquito’, after the formula previously concocted the excellent 2009, Grammy Award nominated LP ‘It’s Blitz‘.

“We took a more playful, lo-fi approach to songwriting,” singer Karen O has said on the album’s creation. “Much of the music was demo-ed in our little basement studio in Manhattan with drum machines, a shitty sample keyboard and tons of delay – which we called the soup.”

“I think this record has more moodier and tripped-out songs than you’ve ever heard from us. You might catch some roots reggae and minimalist psychedelia influences in there.”
