Song by The Fall deemed not suitable for Twilight soundtrack

fallwideThe Fall‘s contribution to the Twilight movie franchise’s soundtrack was rejected – and according to the band’s frontman Mark E. Smith this is because the song in question was ‘too scary’.

“Our publisher got this deal with that film Twilight,” he tells Radar. “They said they’d give us $50,000 to come up with a song. So I said, I’ll give them some horror…they don’t know anything about horror, do they? It might frighten the children. But it is frightening, isn’t it? I’ve fulfilled my bargain with Satan.”

According to reports, Smith and his latest collection of Fall bandmates concocted a song built around a looping two-note riff, with ‘shrieking and grumbling’ over the top.

“There’s no way they’re going to put that in Twilight,” Smith continues. “But if they were good, they would. Orson Welles would’ve done it. It’s horror. Their horror is some guy wandering through a forest with his eyes glazed.”

The Fall’s latest album ‘Re-Mit‘, the 30th of their career, was released earlier this month.
