The 58th anual Ivor Novello Awards which celebrates songwriting ability announced its 2013 nominees shortlist today. The annual awards are highly prized because they are voted for by songwriters and composers.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House hotel in central London on Thursday, May 16. Jake Bugg’s ‘Two Fingers‘ is up against ‘Laura‘ by Bat For Lashes and Emeli Sande’s ‘Next To Me‘ in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category. Alt-J, Plan B and The Maccabees will go head to head in the Best Contemporary Song category while Plan B is also nominated for Best Original Film Score category for his film Ill Manors.
Up for the Album Award are Alt-J who are nominated for the Mercury-winning ‘An Awesome Wave‘, alongside Lianne La Havas‘ ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ and Ben Howard’s ‘Every Kingdom‘.
