Emeli Sande has bettered The Beatles‘ long standing chart record for most consecutive weeks in the UK Top 10 for a debut album thanks to her maiden effort ‘Our Version Of Events‘.
The Beatles’ 1963 debut long player ‘Please Please Me’, whose 50th anniversary was recently celebrated, had held the record since 1964 when it completed 62 weeks at the business end of the UK Album Chart.
That total has now been surpassed by Sande however, with ‘Our Version Of Events’ retaining a place in the Top 10 each week since hitting the shelves in February 2012 – a total of 63 in all.
“I’m completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of,” Sande remarks. “The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music. I’m so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now.”
