Electric Picnic 2013 was doubtful to happen after last year’s poor ticket sales but the promoters have managed to schedule the festival which will take place 30 August to 1 September in Stradbally Estate, Laois.
Headlining the Irish event’s 10th anniversary will be the Arctic Monkeys , Fatboy Slim, and Bjork while My Bloody Valentine, The Knife, Franz Ferdinand, Wu-Tang Clan, Disclosure and David Byrne & St Vincent are all also performing.
Electric Picnic’s promoter Melvin Benn said, “Ultimately my overriding belief is that the ticket price was too high. In 2007 and 2008, when people thought money was growing on trees and tickets were €230, people didn’t think about it, but times are tough now so I have been really keen about reducing the ticket prices.”
He added, “I came up with a mechanic of trying to reward people for having been there. The cheapest tickets is €80 cheaper than it was last year. That is going to bring people back. It is my belief that the Picnic is just a brilliant event. We wanted to make it happen.”
Also scheduled to appear are Deep Valley , The Palma Violets , Noah & the Whale, Warpaint, Eels, The Walkmen, Hurts, and Johnny Marr, as well as Savages, The 1975, CHVRCHES, and Baauer. Check out the full line up below:
