The details of the Smith Westerns‘ new album have been confirmed as the band prepare to follow-up the 2011 effort ‘Dye It Blonde‘.
‘The Soft Will‘ is out through Mom + Pop on June 11th, and was recorded during the first portion of last year in the band’s hometown Chicago after promotional duties for their previous record wound down with a show at the Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee in the February of last year. They then decamped to New York and El Paso in Texas for the resultant recording sessions with Beach House and Yeah Yeah Yeahs cohort Chris Coady.
The tracklist has also been unveiled, with the closer ‘Varsity‘ set for its own release via limited edition 7″ vinyl on May 14th. It will be backed with the b-side ‘Caste & Point‘.
