Morrissey’s request for meat-free Staples Center turned down

Morrissey will not get his wish to perform at a meat-free Staples Center after the venue’s general manager confirmed they intend to continue providing food of both a meat and vegetarian variety when the former Smiths frontman visits Los Angeles on March 1st.

Morrissey is expected to finally resume his fractured North American tour next week after a long stay in hospital with a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus, and had requested that no meat be served when he performs at the Staples Center early next month.

But Lee Zeidman, vice president and general manager of the Staples Center, has released a statement confirming the atypical demands will not be met:

“As we have done in the past, we are happy to create a menu with a greater variety of vegetarian items for our guests who prefer these types of options,” the statement reads. “We respect Morrissey’s lifestyle and his concern for the wishes of so many of his fans and are happy that we are able to honor his requests in this manner.”
