The Happy Mondays will be in London this coming June for a headline performance at the city’s Forum venue.

The gig is booked for June 29th, arriving a short time after the band’s previously announced appearance at this year’s Isle Of Wight festival. They promise special guests for the show, with advance tickets priced at £32.50.

The Happy Mondays are expected to release a brand new studio album this year, that’s despite frontman Shaun Ryder initially ruling out the idea as their reunion shows got underway last year.

“Pop songs – or whatever you want to call them – are written by young people and when you’re young those songs are easy to write,” he told XFM. “If you look at any great artist once they go past late 30s the songs, they just aren’t there.”

However, not long after their manager Warren Askew told NME of a change of heart from the band: “Yes, we are now planning to record a new album, after the success of the tour and with the band all getting on so well,” he said.

“Shaun has been writing and the band have been getting together in the studio putting ideas down. I’m sure it will be a great Happy Mondays album.”
