The Justice Collective edge ahead in race for Christmas Number One

jc1The Justice Collective‘s cover of The Hollies‘ Sixties classic ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother‘ is now leading the race for the UK’s Christmas Number One, according to very latest figures released by the Official Charts Company.

Early weekly sales revealed yesterday had X Factor winner and current UK number one James Arthur narrowly ahead of the Hillsborough benefit single, but the group have now pushed in front of their nearest rival, with sales of 109,700 compared to Arthur’s 106,300.

Official Charts Company Managing Director Martin Talbot has compared the battle to the infamous Facebook-led campaign of 2009 which pushed Rage Against The Machine to the summit in time for Christmas.

“This really is the closest No.1 battle we can remember – even closer than the legendary 2009 battle between Rage Against the Machine and Joe McElderry,” he has said.
“The poll concludes at midnight on Saturday night, so there is a long way to go yet – but this one looks like going down to the wire.”
