It might have become one of the biggest selling UK albums of all time during the 18 months or so which have passed since her breakthrough performance at the Brits, but it seems those who managed to reach the end of this year without getting their hands on Adele‘s ‘21‘ were not best pleased to find the album waiting for them under the tree on Christmas morning.
According to figures reported in today’s Sun newspaper, 47,315 copies of the record were promptly traded in online before Christmas Day was over, while another hugely popular 2012 album, Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘, was also an unwanted gift for over 40,000 people. One Direction‘s regurgitation ‘Up All Night‘ is third on the list, having had 37,846 CDs returned.
Quoted in the tabloid today, MusicMagpie’s Eren Ozagir has laid the blame firmly at the door of parents, remarking: “It’s a sad fact that many of the items sold are given by Mum and Dad.”
