The Rolling Stones began their 50th anniversary tour in London last night (November 25th) with a career spanning, guest packed performance.

The band made their main return to the live stage at London’s O2 Arena, and launched what would prove to be a crowd pleasing greatest hits set with the Lennon/McCartney composed ‘I Wanna Be Your Man‘.

The first guest appearance of the night arrived for ‘Gimme Shelter‘ when Mary J. Blige provided the iconic backing vocals, while Jeff Beck was also onstage soon after during ‘I’m Going Down‘.

According to the veterans’ official Twitter feed, Mick Jagger made a reference to the much discussed ticket prices for the gigs, asking the crowd: “How’s everyone in the cheap seats? The problem is they’re not so cheap!”

Surviving ex-members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor also made appearances – the former on ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll’ and the latter for ‘Midnight Rambler‘.

The Stones will now play a second show in London on the 29th before moving on to the States for shows in New York and New Jersey next month.
