Nine Inch Nails planning new album, live dates

Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor has revealed he is ready to work on new material with the group for the first time since the band was seemingly laid to rest in 2009.

Speaking to Rolling Stone on the possibility of new Nine Inch Nails material, Reznor said: “All signs point to yes. Yeah, there will be new music. Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens here.”

Fans may meet Reznor’s comments with caution however, having previously been promised a new album from the Cleveland rock band as early as 2010, when the frontman and founder discussed plans to record fresh material via a post on Facebook.

The Facebook message arrived soon after Nine Inch Nails had apparently quit playing live following a mammoth three-hour Los Angeles gig in September 2009. However, Reznor has told Rolling Stone more touring could be also on the agenda, and denied that the band had ever retired permanently from live duties.

“If it feels right, it’s a possibility,” he said on playing live. “I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed them and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work.”
