Local Natives confirm second album details

Local Natives will finally follow-up their sublime 2009/2010 debut album ‘Gorilla Manor‘ early next year.

Hummingbird‘ is due for release on January 28th, 2013, and has been recorded by the Los Angeles band in both Montreal and Brooklyn with The National‘s Aaron Dessner.

“One night, after maybe drinking a little bit too much, he was like, ‘Maybe I should work with you guys’,” Local Native Matt Frazier has said of working with Dessner.

“We were like, ‘Sure buddy’. After meeting with all these other producers, it just seemed like we should work with somebody we really get along with and respect as a songwriter.”

The band have described the new record as a ‘heavier’ affair than its predecessor, which received widespread critical claim in showcasing a delightful brand of stripped back, west coast Americana.
