Kings Of Leon have been meeting with potential producers and are planning on starting working on a new album in the ‘near future’, according to the band’s bass player Jared Followill.

The release of ‘Come Around Sundown‘ in 2010 continued Kings Of Leon’s move into mainstream, radio friendly rock, and built on a new found popularity enjoyed by the group following the commercial breakthrough success of ‘Only By The Night‘ two years earlier.

However, the touring duties for their most recent album ended in less-than-satisfactory circumstances when a US tour was eventually cancelled a year ago this month after a string of gig were postponed following an apparent vocal injury being suffered by frontman Caleb, leading to rumours of serious problems among the Followill clan which could lead to a split.

But with plenty of cooling down time recently, Jared has now said album number six is in their sights. “We’ve been meeting with producers every day so we’re starting to get the ball rolling on album six.” he told BBC DJ Zane Lowe.

“I don’t know what I can say, but we’re definitely planning on starting the record at some point in the near future.”

Meanwhile, Jared Followill has unveiled his own side-project with Mona‘s Nick Brown, whose first single can be previewed here.
