Pete Doherty has cancelled his scheduled appearance at the T In The Park festival after entering rehab in Thailand this week.
Doherty’s decision to visit the The Cabin facility in Chiang Mai in the hope of overcoming drug addiction means appearances at T In The Park, Republic’s Rock for People in the Czech Republic and Portugal’s Super Bock Super Rock have all been pulled.
“Peter has left the building, well not quite, more the country, on his way to rehab in Thailand,” a statement released this week said when announcing the news.
“He left Heathrow last night and will have arrived in Thailand this morning. We wish him well. He has plans to continue working on his new songs for the album which is eagerly awaited.”
Meanwhile, The Cabin’s programme director Alastair Mordey has said: “I think Pete’s decision to come to The Cabin indicates his desire to enter a truly effective treatment programme far away from the distractions and chaos of life in the UK.”
“Also I think he’s probably seen enough of the clinical environment of most western centres and wants to experience life in full colour again.”
