The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess reveals band’s unusual drug habits

The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess has outlined one of the more debauched activities the band indulged in during their excessive rock n roll days.

Writing in his new autobiography Tellin’ Stories, Burgess described the process of a ‘Manhattan-powered doughnut’ thus:

“We discovered the process of blowing coke up each other’s arses. There, I have said it. It’s not like we invented the practice but I realise now it’s not an everyday thing for most people.”

“Not every member of The Charlatans took part in this highly-charged ritual, which has been described as having ‘a Manhattan-powered doughnut’. I was a giver and receiver. They say giving is better than receiving, but believe me, in this case the giving is not that great.”

“You stick a cone pointy-end first into the participant’s anus, aim your straw into the cone and blow sharply, like firing a dart from a blowpipe. Then wait for it… yes! The participant jumps around the room as if someone has rubbed a fiery chilli on the spot.”

This and more tales of Charlatans-orientated family fun will be available when the book is released on April 26th.
