Liam Gallagher has confirmed Beady Eye will play Oasis songs when the band perform at the Fuji Rock festival in Japan this July.

When the remaining members of Oasis re-emerged as Beady Eye in late 2010 following the departure of Noel Gallagher, the new foursome appeared ready to leave the past behind them as they emphatically stated their intention to only air tracks recorded during sessions for debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘ on the subsequent world tour.

However, Liam has now told the radio station whose listeners recently voted him ‘the greatest frontman of all time’ that ‘the time is now right’ for Beady Eye to delve back into their previous incarnation.

“We’re doing Fuji Festival in Japan, which is in July,” he remarked to XFM. “And we will be dropping Oasis songs for anyone who’s bothered.”

“The time is right now, without a doubt. We were always going to do it, but we thought the album needed to stand on its own. We’ve done some good gigs, we’ve done some shit gigs. And it’s time to drop them in now. Everyone else is. I feel they’re just as much my songs as they are Noel’s. And if people don’t like it, go to the bar or **** off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let’s have a good time.”

It remains unclear whether Beady Eye intend to perform only songs written by the various band members during their time with Oasis, which would likely include ‘Songbird‘ and ‘Turn Up The Sun‘ amongst others.
