Spector taking inspiration from pop world on debut album

Upcoming British band Spector have said they are taking inspiration from the pop world during the recording of their debut album.

In an interview with NME, the band’s frontman Fred Macpherson has revealed they made a conscious effort to emulate the collaborative nature of the pop genre, and have thus been working with various producers including Tom Vek, Kid Harpoon and Trevor Horn in order to create a sense of variety on the record.

“I kind of conceived it like making a pop album, we wanted to use different producers in the way that Rihanna might if she was making an album – and often does,” Macpherson explains.

“I think it’s going to be really sort of mixed. Like, if you were going to get some Pick ‘n’ Mix if you were shoplifting from Woolworths, and you have to throw it all in the bag before anyone notices. It’s going to be that sort of record.”

Spector will release their new single ‘Chevy Thunder‘ on February 27th.
