Sex Pistols sign new record deal ahead of ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ anniversary celebrations

sexpistolsPunk legends the Sex Pistols have signed a  record deal with Universal ahead of a new release to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their landmark album ‘Never Mind The Bollocks…Here’s The Sex Pistols‘.

Universal Music Catalogue UK will now issue an expanded and re-packaged edition of the 1977 album to mark the anniversary, while other events and releases are said to be in the pipeline. “Music can be great, when done by the great,” John Lydon has remarked.

“The Sex Pistols are the greatest. Universal now has a trophy room, music is the imitation of nature, the Sex Pistols are nature, so please give generously. Thank you.”

“To be given the opportunity to re-evaluate the Sex Pistols catalogue is every music lover’s dream,” Karen Simmonds of Universal has added. “We’re looking forward to working with the band and celebrating their impact on worldwide culture.”

Released as the band were already beginning to implode following a tumultuous period of touring and recording, ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’ remains the Sex Pistols’ sole studio release. Check out a Live4ever feature on the making and impact of the record here.
