Bloc Party announce comeback live dates

blocpartyBloc Party have announced their first live shows of 2012 as they re-emerge from a prolonged hiatus.

The band will play two European festival dates later this year, at Sweden’s Peace & Love festival on June 29th, followed by a show at Germany’s Melt festival in July.

“Hard to believe it’s been nearly three years since our last show,” guitarist Russell Lissack has said on the gigs. “We’re really excited to announce our first festival appearances for this summer, at which we’ll be debuting material from our forthcoming new album.”

After Kele Okereke revealed his Bloc Party bandmates had begun recording sessions in his absence last year, it appeared to be unclear as to whether the frontman, who released the solo album ‘The Boxer‘ in June 2010, would be a part of Bloc Party’s future.

However, Okereke cleared up any confusion last month, telling Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 that he and the group had recorded two tracks in full, and demoed a further 17.
