London newcomers Tribes have said they were content to leave ‘loads of little mistakes’ on their debut album ‘Baby‘ to ensure the original spirit of their recording sessions was maintained on the final mix.

“It’s not perfect by any means – there’s loads of little mistakes in there that we left because just the general vibe of the tape was good,” frontman Johnny Lloyd told XFM. “We tried to have a human feel that only with Mike Crossey and tape and recording live in Liverpool was going to give us.”

Looking back on the four-piece’s early influences, Lloyd marked out London favourites Blur and The Libertines as primary sources of inspiration.

“When we were growing up and we were in Camden it was like The Libertines and Blur and everyone were doing that and we wanted to become on of those bands,” he continued. “Just having an emotional effect on someone with your music is as much as you can hope for and that’s what we’re trying to achieve.”

‘Baby’ was released this week and is on course to break into the UK top 20.
