Fender have unveiled a new Johnny Marr signature ‘Jaguar’ guitar, and have released a video interview with the former Smiths legend which can be viewed below.
“The Jag suited the way I’ve evolved as a guitar player, but at the same time all the old stuff – all my old riffs and everything – sounded absolutely right on the Jag. It covered loads of bases that I’d used other guitars for, so I’m really glad that I came across it,” Marr remarks in the interview. “It sounds like how I’m supposed to sound I think.”
Widely regarded as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation, Johnny Marr’s unique, fluid style has inspired countless subsequent musicians, and was a major part of the equally unique Smiths sound which still marks them out as arguably the last truly original British rock band.
Fender have confirmed the guitar’s dedicated accessories will include a custom case with blue crushed velvet interior, strap, cable and flatwound strings.
