Arctic Monkeys lead the way on the shortlist for the 2012 NME Awards, picking up nominations in each of the four major categories for which they are eligible.
The Sheffield band will compete for the Best British Band, Best Album, Best Live Band and Best Track gongs, as they are recognised for a resurgent twelve months since the release of their glorious album ‘Suck It and See‘ last year.
Elsewhere, Kasabian and Noel Gallagher have two major nominations apiece, with the latter being nominated for Best Solo Artist and Best Album. By contrast, Gallagher’s former Oasis bandmates Beady Eye have been placed in the Worst Band category, where they share the company of Coldplay, Muse, Viva Brother and One Direction.
This year’s NME Awards will be handed out at a ceremony in London on February 29th.
