Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has outlined his delight at the success of the band’s recent US tour, and believes the country has ‘really started to like us’.

The Arctics were in the US towards the end of this year in support of ‘Suck It and See‘, an album widely regarded as the band’s strongest release since the much vaunted debut ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not‘.

“We’re in a good place,” Turner told NME. “Just coming to the end of this American tour, but it’s been really good. America has really started to like us. We’ve started getting a really good response.”

Meanwhile, drummer Matt Helders has admitted the theme which underpinned the video for the recent single ‘Suck It and See‘ was ‘strange’, but insisted he was never concerned that the promo might be taken too seriously.

“It’s a strange thing to do isn’t it? Was I ever worried that people might not get the joke? I wasn’t really that bothered,” he said. “As long as people see that we don’t take ourselves too seriously.”
