Texas band Okkervil River have released a covers album as a free download on their official website.
The second volume of their ‘Golden Opportunities‘ EPs, the first of which came in 2007, the collection features Okkervil River’s takes on tracks from Ted Lucas, Jim Sullivan, The Triffids and Bill Fay, as well as their rendition of the traditional arrangement ‘Dry Bones‘. The EP was “recorded live to tape during a one-day studio session in Austin, Texas,” reports their label Jagjaguar.
Okkervil River released their sixth album ‘I Am Very Far‘ earlier this year, a record which has become one of the year’s highest acclaimed releases. The LP broke into the US Billboard top 40, but criminally struggled to make any significant impact in the UK.
