Glastonbury Named ‘Best Major Festival’ At 2011 UK Festival Awards

michaeleavisGlastonbury has been named the Best Major Festival for a second time in three years at the UK Festival Awards which were staged last night (November 15th), at the Roundhouse.

Stunning headline performances from Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur were enough to secure the crown for Glastonbury in 2009 and now, with similar acclaimed sets from U2, Coldplay and Beyonce this year, the event has re-claimed the prize from 2010 winner Bestival.

Elsewhere, Paolo Nutini‘s show at Latitude won the Headline Performance Of The Year, while Chase and Status‘ ‘Blind Faith‘ was named Anthem of the Summer.

Despite missing out on this year’s major award, winning the Fans’ Favourite Festival did help to confirm Bestival’s status as one of the UK’s premiere summer events, and the always crucial Best Toilets award went to the Y-Not Festival.
