US rock stars the Foo Fighters have been confirmed as headliners for the first ever Brazilian edition of the Lollapalooza music festival.

The event, organised by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, will expand to Brazil on April 7th and 8th next year, and is to be held at the Jockey Club in Sao Paulo. Also headlining will be British chart star Tinie Tempah.

Jane’s Addiction, MGMT, TV On The Radio, Foster The People and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts have also been announced for the festival, which will arrive one week after the second annual Lollapalooza in Chile.

Lollapalooza was originally conceived by Farrell in 1990, with its ‘travelling music festival’ ethos being inspired by the legendary American concert promoter Bill Graham. The first event was held in 1991 and featured performances from Nine Inch Nails and Ice-T amongst others.

Earlier this year, the 20th anniversary of Lollapalooza was celebrated in Chicago with a concert which included performances from the likes of The Drums, Eminem and Cee Lo Green.
