Johnny Marr has revealed he may be about to play music once again with his former Smiths bandmate Andy Rourke.

Quoted in The Sun newspaper, Marr also spoke of still having sporadic correspondence with Morrissey, both face-to-face and via email.

“I last saw Morrissey a couple of years ago and we hung out for an afternoon and it was pretty funny,” he said. “I’m going to be hanging out with and maybe playing with Andy soon and then getting an email now and then off Mozza is nice.”

The comments from Marr go some way to dispelling the notions of lingering bad blood between the various former Smiths members, and Marr was quick to deny the Manchester legends are still ‘bad news’.

“People think The Smiths are bad news, especially when we split, but it’s not,” he continued. “The Smiths were bloody brilliant and I’m eternally proud of that.”

Johnny Marr’s brief association with The Cribs came to an end earlier this year, and he is now expected to pursue a solo career along with other side projects.
