Kasabian were twice warned to turn the volume down by New York City police during their special rooftop gig in the city on Monday (September 12th).

Kasabian performed atop a New York City skyscraper as part of the 40th birthday celebrations of clothing label Mulberry and, according to Serge Pizzorno quoted in today’s Sun newspaper, the band didn’t ingratiate themselves with the law while playing the show.

“The police came up twice to tell us to turn it down. The second time they didn’t look so happy,” said Pizzorno. “I think the owner turned it up.”

“NYPD at a Kasabian gig? It was a first for us,” added frontman Tom Meighan. “We played the Ghostbusters theme before we came on. Our hotel is just around the corner from where they had their HQ with the fireman’s pole. It was pretty big.”

Velociraptor!‘, the much-anticipated follow up to 2009′s ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum‘, is due for release on the 19th of this month.
