Iggy Pop has revealed he is writing new material with The Stooges guitarist James Williamson, but has yet to confirm whether the sessions will result in a new album from the punk pioneers.

“We started trading stuff by MP3 back and forth as soon as we started,” Iggy told Rolling Stone. “We actually did get together this spring. He came to my house in Miami and we wrote 10 things.”

“I think we like about half of them. We’ll keep writing. I think he’d like to make an album and I’d like to make more the score for an intelligent video game. So as far as what the former might be, I don’t know.”

Williamson returned to the Stooges fold in 2009, after the band had released a new studio album, ‘The Weirdness‘, in his absence in 2007. They have played several UK festivals over the course of the summer, most notably at Isle Of Wight last June.
