Muse have reiterated they will not be performing any new material when they perform at the Reading / Leeds festival, which officially kicks off at the twin sites tomorrow (August 26th).

The band’s bass player Chris Wolstenholme told the Daily Star the three bandmates have been unable to rehearse or record any new material in the build up to Reading / Leeds due to frontman Matt Bellamy‘s new family life.

“We’ve not rehearsed any new stuff as Matt’s got a baby now and we haven’t had time to get in the studio,” he explained.

Muse are due to play their 2001 album ‘Origin Of Symmetry‘ in its entirety during their headline appearances, and Wolstenholme has been telling the tabloid paper of the importance that record still holds for both the band and their fans.

“Origin was an important album because it propelled us into being the live band we are today,” he said. “Things really took off after that record. In the early days, opinion was divided, but by the time Origin came around we put all our efforts into trying to sound like we did live on record.”

“We were still playing in small venues and didn’t have any money so we couldn’t be extravagant with production or anything.”

Muse will headline the first night of the Leeds leg tomorrow, moving on to Reading for the Sunday spot two days later.
