Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has said the band have no plans to return to the studio before 2013 after releasing fourth studio effort ‘Suck It and See‘ earlier this year.

Quoted in the The Sun newspaper, Turner described the Sheffield band as wanting to keep their ‘heads down’ for the foreseeable future, and also discussed the change in his songwriting inspiration since the grounded, weekend tales which punctuated their debut album.

“I don’t really write on the road any more,” he explained. “We come up with a few ideas on soundchecks and that but I have written too many terrible lyrics touring around. As yet there is no plan to return to the studio next year, we’re keeping our heads down.”

“It’s hard to do the old chip shop rock’n’roll. After you’ve done it once, you don’t sort of hang around that many chippies any more. I think it’s natural, I couldn’t ever write about my surroundings in the same way as I did back then.”

Rumours surrounding a possible DVD release of the Arctic Monkeys’ Don Valley Bowl gigs intensified yesterday when the band posted a 90-second teaser clip of the shows online.
