Martin Scorsese Praises George Harrison Ahead Of Documentary Release

george harrisonAcclaimed director Martin Scorsese has paid a glowing tribute to George Harrison, as a new two-part documentary, which is named after Harrison’s 1973 album ‘Living In The Material World‘  and charts the life and career of the late former Beatle, gets set to air on the HBO network in the autumn.

“I first came to know George through the music, which was the soundtrack of our world – those beautifully lyrical guitar breaks and solos, those unforgettable songs of George’s like ‘I Me Mine’ or ‘If I Needed Someone‘,” Scorsese is quoted as saying in The Telegraph.

“George and his music seemed to open up and flower. I will never forget the first time I heard ‘All Things Must Pass’, the overwhelming feeling of taking in that all glorious music for the first time. It was like walking into a cathedral.”

Living In The Material World will feature never before seen footage, as well as contributions from the likes of Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, and Yoko Ono. A DVD is due for release in October.
