Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has said he believes there is now as good a chance as ever that The Stone Roses will reform – as he claims Ian Brown needs the money.
Quoted in today’s edition of The Sun, Ryder says The Stone Roses have never reformed since their messy implosion in 1996 as Brown has not needed the cash, a situation that may now be about to change.
“I think it’ll happen, I really do,” he told the tabloid. “There is more of a chance now than ever of them getting back together. Ian’s just split with his missus and I bet she’s hit him for a few quid.”
“The only reason they will get back together is if Ian needs the cash. He never has before, he’s a millionaire.”
Last month, rumours of a Roses reunion were re-ignited when it was revealed the four ex-bandmates had got together at the funeral of bassist Mani‘s mother. However, the meeting never suggested a re-start was imminent, and the whispers were quickly, and surprisingly, put to bed by Mani on Twitter.
